History

Edgar was headquartered in beautiful downtown, San Francisco, California. Founded over 30 years ago, the company is still privately held. Edgar is the only firm able to provide the transportation industry's most accurate form of routing and scheduling software, using UTM, GIS, and GPS technology.

Edgar Corporation was founded by Peter Caswell in 1971 who served as long time president of the company. Previous to that, Peter had served as President of Decision Studies, Inc., and Facts Consolidated, and other Senior Level positions with Booz, Allen & Hamilton, IBM, RCA Corporation, and EBS Corp. He was responsible for overseeing several major U.S. projects including the design of the Bart Transportation System in California, Moss Landing Nuclear Power Plant, and the Hetch-Hetchy Dam System.

Bringing his considerable experience to bear, Peter launched Edgar to provide solutions that could utilize the nascent field of computer technology. By developing a unique set of algorithms to create a powerful optimization system, Edgar Corporation was able to provide exceptionally potent solutions for routing and scheduling problems in the transportation industry.

Over the years, Edgar has continued to innovate and refine its products to provide cutting edge technology for today's needs.

Edgar Corporation is recognized for its contribution to transportation industry. It won the annual award at the 33rd Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Forum for the best paper entitled 'Computerized Scheduling & Routing' in Motor Carrier Topics.

Peter Caswell received his B.E.E. for the Jesuit University of Detroit, MI, and an M.S. from the University of California at Berkeley.
